Today - Sunsp.t Releases Second Single, "Beholden"
Today, Sunsp.t continues its trajectory of releasing inventive, genre-spanning material that stimulates the mind and nurtures the body. In Joe’s own words, Beholden is:
“Cathartic poetry written in 2019 in song form. This song began as personal, but the pandemic turned its sentiment into a universal experience. As with the entire album, I performed and mixed every instrument. This song’s instrumentation is an army of keyboards (doubled clavinet, wah rhodes, wurlitzer, moog) and a drum set. Lizzie Ross leant her vocals to this song’s 2nd verse. Near the finishing process of the album, I had two songs that needed a little something. I have Lizzie Ross on Beholden and Emily Musolino on Time Never Grows Back, and their contributions lifted those songs to a different level. To be beholden, to be holden - until this song “holden” wasn’t a word that means “to be held”, you’re welcome Webster’s Dictionary. Come for the song, stay for the ending Moog Bass solo. Inspired by Anderson Paak, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Van Hunt, Laura Marling.
The Sunsp.t LP, Psychical, is out 9/30. Until then, stream Beholden everywhere. Full release notes and credits here.
