Welcome, Libby Rodenbough!
We’re thrilled to have Libby join the Sleepy Cat family. We’ve been fans of her work for some time now.
I’ve known Libby for five or six years, and we’ve only recently become collaborators. Spending musical time with her is a thrill. She’s engaged, deeply creative, and very, very funny - all of which shines through effortlessly on her upcoming album, "Spectacle of Love.”
This record is sharp . The weight of each tune lands on my ears with blunt force. Of course, part of it’s magic is that it’s not as dramatic as all that. The songs simultaneously break my heart while reminding me that it’s no big deal.
The production really drives this thought home. The tunes were recorded all over the place, with different gear, different players, and arrangements that boast everything from full string and horn sections, to drum machines, to just Libby and a guitar. It’s a collection of songs that knows it’s own power, and is perfectly alright with it.
