G&T New Single - Norm's Oranges
Despite Norm’s good fortune - landing where the sun DO shine - this latest from Gibson & Toutant has me side-stepping and shoulder-shimmying in my darkened living room, clouds blanketing the sky, relishing the brooding groove while I groove and brood. I’ve never felt more like the vampire girl in this scene from A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.
From G & T:
“Written while profoundly ill with a bad case of Beatlemania during a lockdown-induced viewing of the 12-hour Anthology documentary series, “Norm’s Oranges” pays roundabout tribute to “Eleanor Rigby”, or maybe “A Day In The Life”. Lennon and McCartney–I’m sorry, I mean Gibson & Toutant–create a viable character-song hero in Norm. Norm’s a regular guy who blew away in a snowstorm one day and landed somewhere sunnier. Now he turns the radio dial in a fertile citrus field, summoning the sunrise and occasionally taking in a news broadcast.”
