First tracks from Strange Bug Electric and Solo Piano Out Today
Our own beloved co-founder, idea-man, art director, spreadsheet whiz, ace drummer (and so much more), Gabe Anderson has three gorgeous new tunes out today! On his birthday, no less! Under his long-running moniker, Strange Bug.
These songs originate from two different records, Strange Bug Electric and Solo Piano: Duende Songs. While you can stream all three from your favorite service today and forevermore, both records (in digital format) are also available for purchase in their entirety. Every week starting today, a new single will be made available for streaming, alternating between the two records.
Some words from Gabe on these albums:
Solo Piano: Duende Songs
While drums have been my primary craft, I've been playing piano since I was a kid, on and off, teaching myself by way of play and emotional processing. This album includes themes I've been puzzling together since I was 13 as well as improvisations i recorded during the session. They feel like an aid to feeling joy and grief for me, and I'm excited to share them with you.
Electric
This album is composed of late night laptop sketches, often created in one go as journal entries and thrown into the vault. In compiling this album I selected some favorites, and prepped them for mixing, tweaking an arrangement, occasionally adding a track or two. Most tracks originate from a single improvisational long arc atop some found sounds. Nature samples used are from my phone over the years, around my home town, Carrboro, and on travels. I've found this album to be my go to soundtrack for playing video games with friends, roadtrips, doing dishes, or other settings wanting of a set-it-and-forget soundscape.
